Harkada | הרקדה – Come Dance With Us!
Rikudei Am (ריקודי עם), Israeli Folk Dance, is a form of dance usually performed to songs in Hebrew with most dances internationally choreographed for specific songs.
Explore our two Israeli dance classes (harkadot) below to choose the best fit for you!
A harkada is a joyful Israeli folk dance gathering that brings people together through music, movement, and community.
You’ll dance in circles, lines, and partners — always guided by a friendly leader so you can follow along with ease.
✨ Why you’ll love it:
- Fun, high-energy movement that feels like a celebration
- Options for both newcomers and more experienced dancers
- A taste of Israeli culture through music and dance
- Great exercise — without it ever feeling like a workout
Whether you’re stepping onto the dance floor for the very first time or coming back with a bit of experience, there’s a harkada that’s just right for you.
Enjoy this energizing, fun, physical and mental activity. Bring a pair of comfortable indoor or dance shoes, a bottle of water and a smile.
For teens AND adults, minimal drop-in fee required.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Meirav and Doron
Recreational Circle Dance Instructors
Growing up in Israel, Meirav and Doron were introduced to Israeli Dancing in grade two as an After School program like many other children. Meirav learned a few dances but never continued dancing until she moved to Canada. Doron kept dancing in his teens (because of the beautiful girls he could meet in the Harkada - drop in dance sessions). In their mid 30’s they both joined recreational sessions at the Edmonton JCC as what was meant to be “physical activity with my love”. Soon, Recreational Israeli Dancing became love and passion. The evolution from dancers to teachers “Markidim” in 2010 deepened their interest and commitment for this fun and connecting activity. They highly enjoy the sense of community and friendships this activity brought to the their lives. Doron and Meirav attended camps and workshops in Canada and Israel, and they see themselves continuing to dance and teach for many years to come.
